A recent $150 million expansion has transformed the already popular Pasadena Convention Center into a spectacular venue for weddings and special events. Its amazing variety of event sites includes brand new options along with updated favorites. So, brides, whatever type of wedding you imagine, you can have it here.
The Grand Ballroom is one of the center?s latest additions. At 25,000 square feet, it?s the largest ballroom in the San Gabriel Valley, but it can be divided into ten separate sections to comfortably accommodate a group as small as 100 or as large as 3,000. Its neutral, modern interior is a blank canvas on which you can paint your own event picture. At one gala, they hung oversized inflatable stars from the ceiling, creating a glittering night ?sky.? Metallic linens covered the tables, special colored lighting was projected on the walls, and the room was turned into a luminous vision. The ballroom is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and lighting systems and is wired for the internet with future plans for WiFi access. It also opens to an 11,000-square-foot lobby, with a sparkling terrazzo floor and artistic, freeform chandeliers. This prefunction space is ideal for cocktails and hors d?oeuvres, and can be turned into a congenial lounge area with the addition of couches and chairs.
The original Conference Center Building received $1.9 million that renovated its interior and gave it a whole new faade. Weddings can be held on the building?s lower level, which houses another chic, contemporary space for events. Done in soft gray and white, it complements almost any color scheme. Hang swags of fabric from the ceiling for an element of softness and movement, or add a disco ball for sparkle. Brides enjoy tossing their bouquet over the sleek metal railing on the upper level.
The Civic Auditorium, crafted in the Italian Renaissance style, has always charmed visitors with its soaring archways and dramatic artistry. Exchange vows on the same stage where Pavarotti sang his arias and television stars attend award shows and TV specials. Or, with the theater?s technical elements at your disposal, hold your very own ?command performance? for an audience of friends and family. You can also give your guests the star treatment and host the reception right on stage! The auditorium?s resplendent Gold Room, featuring a rosette ceiling and elaborate moldings, continues to attract smaller wedding ceremonies and receptions.
A new 22,000-square-foot plaza runs in front of all three of the center?s main event spaces. Its beautiful tiled surface is perfect for an al fresco cocktail reception, before moving inside for your main celebration.
The Pasadena Convention Center?s in-house culinary professionals specialize in California cuisine using locally grown ingredients, and will customize your menu. The center has also implemented a host of ?go green? initiatives, which should please environmentally conscious brides. And guests attending your event will have plenty to keep them happy, too: The facility is close to the Burbank and Los Angeles airports and just blocks from Old Pasadena, a historic area filled with shops, boutiques, restaurants and clubs. Museums, golf, and live theater are nearby as well.
