The only daughter of the Porter family married into the Sesnon family and soon designed their summer mansion, the Pino Alto, in 1911. After World War II, the home was sold to the Salesian Order where it was maintained as a seminary and school until Cabrillo College purchased the property in 1978. Due to the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, the building was renovated and reopened in the fall of 1996.
