Nestled in the valley just 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, Folktale is conveniently accessible from the Monterey Airport and the Monterey Peninsula. An easy drive from Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area, Folktale is a one-of-a-kind winery destination. Situated on 15 acres of sustainably-farmed Sangiovese vineyards and gardens along the Carmel River, it offers numerous venue settings with which to delight you and your guests. Whether your group is small and intimate, desiring a large feast and celebration, or a memorable corporate retreat, our aim is to create an experience tailored to your group. Each of our venue locations has its own unique feel and narrative. Venues
The Rose Vineyard – Nestled in the vines beside our Barrel Room, The Rose Vineyard features a secluded large, grassy field perfect for Ceremonies and private events. This vineyard showcases majestic views of the property as well as the Santa Lucia Mountains beyond. This space can also be used in conjunction with the Barrel Room for an indoor/outdoor event, and is also a great spot for Post-Wedding Brunches or Summertime Bridal Showers.
The Barrel Room – Follow the cobblestone pathway to a private courtyard and through dramatic double doors into the spacious and breathtaking Barrel Room. This space makes an instant impression with over 1,000 wine barrels stacked from floor to ceiling. One of the largest and most unique indoor spaces in the area, the Barrel Room is incredibly versatile and has proudly been the setting for some truly memorable events from Weddings to Concerts to Galas.
The Greenhouse – The Greenhouse is the perfect space in any season. Offering privacy while bringing a balance of outdoors and indoors, this cozy space is anchored by our beloved handmade Monterey Cypress table. During the warm, endless summer days, the French doors open up and invite the garden sounds and ocean breeze in. When the weather turns chilly, this space transforms into a glowing and ultra-cozy space, equipped with heaters and our Sonos sound system. A green wall of indoor ivy and a canopy of nested plants add to the enchantment of this space, which is unlike any other. Perfect for Wedding Events under 55 guests!
The Wine Garden – Our Winery Garden is warm and tranquil. The lush green landscaping, colorful and fragrant flowers, and trees that provide dappled shade insist that you linger. Playful centerpieces and kilim pillows add color and comfort, while the string lights, fire pits, and hanging lanterns in the Strawberry Tree create a surreal glow in the evening hours. Invitingly beautiful day or night, this is an open space to spend the afternoon with friends and family, host a reception, or hold your large event in this idyllic atmosphere. Combined with the Greenhouse and Gallery, the winery area can accommodate events both intimate and grand.
The Vineyard House – Tucked within the vineyard is the luxurious Vineyard House, an ideal venue for upscale events and meetings. It offers four private rooms and a great room with twenty foot vaulted ceilings that generously open up to a wrap-around patio surrounded by vines; an ideal location for cocktails, dinner and dancing, or a private corporate retreat. The space is also equipped with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths – perfect for lodging for Wedding Families or Bridal Parties and other events under 80 guests.

Just minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, and Monterey, Folktale is a unique and memorable place to celebrate your special occasion.
